It’s January 16th, 2023. This is the Umphrey’s Update from Umphreaks Anonymous, I’m Josh Colky.
Umphrey’s Opens Tours in DC and Pennsylvania
Over the weekend, Umphrey’s McGee played the first four shows of their 25th anniversary tour. The run started with back to back shows in DC and continued on with single nights in Philadelphia and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Early reports indicate that Plunger, Attachments and Rocker 2 were particularly good. Umphrey’s 25th anniversary tour journeys on to famous New York venues this week – starting at the Brooklyn Bowl on Thursday, and a pair of shows at the Capitol Theater on Friday and Saturday.
Umphrey’s Returns to Beautiful Colorado Venues
Last week, Umphrey’s announced three dates at two stunning Colorado venues. The band will once again take the rostrum at the Dillon Amphitheater, a heavenly stage situated along a reservoir surrounded by majestic mountains. The second and third night of the run will be back at the world-famous Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison Colorado. Umphrey’s will be joined for an extended set by their good friends moe.
Umphrey’s Will Return to Bonnaroo
Umphrey’s has also announced a return to Bonnaroo. Directly following the Red Rocks shows, the band will pack up and head to Tennessee to make it for Sunday night of the festival. Umphrey’s is famous for being one of the first bands to grace a Bonnaroo stage, way back in 2002. This will be the first time the band has played the megafestival since 2017.
Umphrey’s Announces Digital Tour Collectables
Continuing to trail blaze in the realm of digital collectables, Umphrey’s newest NFT scheme focuses on electronic ticket stubs. Fans are able to buy digital “copies” of ticket Stubbs using cryptocurrency. The band is hoping to add some real world utility to these web based items but stuffing them with unlockable goodies, like MP3 downloads of the show they represent. One of the first bands to set out into this realm, Umphrey’s hopes to craft tradeable commodities that are more than just an avatar, items that both bring money to the band and are valuable for their fans.
